Tetris Wouldn't Win at This Gaming Ceremony — An Additional Classification May Address This Issue

Whenever a prominent honors show approaches, one notices an outcry for the addition additional classifications to recognize unsung work and satisfy the spirits of fans who have specialized interests.

My colleague has already made advocating for terror-themed awards. It would be amazing. Equally deserving are board games, which is a dedicated supporter's campaign. However, I must insist if I try to elbow in front just as with other single-minded supporters, I have a cast-iron argument supporting my request is the most urgent and significant. Here's the proposal: It's essential to create an award type for logic-based games.

Categorizing Game Types

Classifying creative works defies precise measurement; it’s very subjective, and typically spark debates concluding with vague boundaries. This explains why film award organizations avoid this approach. Yet it remains a necessary evil for the industry of video games, that demonstrate such variety they barely qualify one unified medium.

For comprehensive acknowledgment of interactive entertainment excellence to receive acknowledgment, and for games of all stripes to receive proper recognition, specific award classifications remain vital.

Present Award Structure

Leading game ceremonies offer these award types recognizing Action, Action/Adventure, Role-Playing, Combat games, Sim/Strategy, plus athletic and racing experiences. Together, these six categories effectively encompass numerous genres, allowing placement for most games within them.

Different situation exists for brain-teasing titles. No appropriate category exists for their placement. Think about these outstanding current releases, all very different: building puzzles in a particular game, fast-paced pattern recognition of another game, and the sweetly sociological logic puzzles from additional release. Where could they possibly go between these six categories? Nowhere, that’s where.

Recognition Challenges

Many instances occur outstanding logic titles published annually without proper recognition during gaming ceremonies, except when they manage to fit for categories like Mobile Game, Virtual reality experiences, or the intensely contested independent game categories.

  • One classic puzzle game wasn’t nominated completely in 2014
  • Another creative title missed out that year
  • Popular arranging title received no acknowledgment recently
  • Just some logic titles managed to sneak into small studio or handheld classifications

Importance of Logic Titles

These are often compact experiences, but the art behind logic titles holds tremendous importance. Iconic mobile puzzle games stand as the most-played games globally maintaining this status for over a decade.

The iconic tile-matching title competes with famous sandbox experiences competing to become best-selling game of all time; it additionally competes for top gaming experience. Logic titles represent cornerstones within interactive entertainment, while interacting with diverse game types.

Recommendation and Reasoning

Logic titles wouldn't face this problem. It would be easy to populate five nominees with fascinating, diverse, deserving games each ceremony simply — perhaps, with difficulty, because you’d have to leave numerous deserving experiences.

And to reiterate, these include experiences without proper classification during prominent ceremonies. Puzzle game makers are working at the hard edge of video game design, creating some of most fundamental forms within interactive entertainment. Comparable to movie stunt professionals, they warrant appreciation. Don't make them wait decades.
