A person who spiked sweets with sleeping medication and distributed them to youngsters at a summer camp in the area has admitted sexual offences against two children both between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight youngsters and an older person experienced illness at the facility in July.
The elderly man, from that region, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he was present at Leicester Crown Court on Friday.
However, he denied one of the sexual offences he was facing, which was concerning a nine-year-old boy.
The defendant was held in detention prior to a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, detailed Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She said his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a youth camp which he operated.
The man conducted a "treat game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor explained, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and request they to ingest treats "rapidly".
She told the court Ruben had engaged in this activity with the children "repeatedly", and minors had previously become sick the following morning.
She stated the defendant had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had concerns in recently.
The legal representative continued: "This year his family member had suspicions about the activities, justifiably.
"They chose" to examine in the man's possessions."
Mrs Prior KC explained materials including infant oil, Vaseline and syringes were located, and his stepchild notified the police about his suspicions.
She said the defendant went on to conduct the "treat game" with six boys that night - July 26th - and they were all sick the following morning.
"The police had not responded by that time," she stated further.
The oversight body, the police conduct office, had stated that it was investigating law enforcement's management of the situation.
The prosecutor stated the minors were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so the family member contacted the police again.
She said the man then played the "candy game" in a space of five children.
